STEM after school at Rock View ES

Winter 2016, Mondays - Thursdays

The Great Adventure Lab is an after-school science enrichment program offering our classes in 50+ schools in the D.C. area. We’ve taught thousands of kids how to write their first robotics programs or video game programs (or both!). Student to adult ratio of 7:1 or better for most classes.

We are an LLC based in Silver Spring, MD. We are fully insured and our instructors have passed background checks including FBI and state fingerprinting.


Room numbers TBD. Instructor will send welcome email several days before class.

Intro to Video Game Programming A, Grades K-2

Using MIT’s Scratch Jr., we’ll learn how to program basic video games on iPads (provided by The GrAd Lab!) Kids will have a blast learning how to make their characters move, talk, and interact.

 

Areas of Exploration: Programming, Multimedia, Storytelling, Music, Logic.


Class Format: Six 60-min. meetings, once per week.


Tuition: $125 plus $5 materials fee per student, min 11/ max 12 students, 2 instructors.


 


 

Space Engineers, Grades 3-5

Tuesdays 3:35 - 4:45pm

Students will tackle challenges that real NASA engineers face, like how to land a rover on Mars without breaking it.. We’ll also learn about hovercraft and try our hands at liftoff!!  Grab your astronaut helmets, since this class will take you OUT of this world!


Areas of Exploration: Engineering, Physics.


Class Format: Six 60-min. meetings, once per week.


Tuition: $105 plus $30 materials fee per student, min 11 / max 14 students,  1 instructor, 1 aide.
